Where does Commissioner DJ Wysei come from?
That is the story of Nigeria’s multi-talented and youngest female disc jockey, Iwuagwu Ebere Pat, better known as Commissioner DJ Wysei.
The entertainment star, who is from Imo State, South-east Nigeria, has had a passion for singing since she was in secondary school, and as they say, the rest is history.
Commissioner DJ Wysei completed her secondary education with a degree in Information Communication Technology from the National Open University (NOUN), and she is currently pursuing her master’s degree in Spain.
She began her career in 2014 and has not looked back. She has proven to be an inspiration to both her colleagues in the Nigerian entertainment business and those who are coming up behind her.

“My interest in music grew during my secondary school years and continued into my university years. I am also a certified information technologist.
“I had no idea I’d decide on disk jockeying,” she said in an interview.
“I have had lots of experiences in my career when I started as a DJ and I can boldly say publicly that coming out strong and noticed in the industry is not just about being a lady with all the attractive features to offer, but such that could attract the needed attention and know what the listeners want” .
After eight years of overcoming hurdles and remaining faithful to her passion, Commissioner DJ Wysei, born on November 2, has become an enigma, an industry icon, and a source of strength and courage for her gender who needed someone to look up to.

Commissioner DJ Wysei described how she persuaded her family to support her chosen career choice.
“It all started with a simple inquiry, which I replied without understanding what the future held. “DJing?” my sister inquired, ‘Is that what you want to do?’ I informed her with complete confidence, ‘I’ve decided to pursue this full-time; I love it and am prepared for it.
“She could see that I was clearly in love with music and the profession. She then took me and got me my first DJ player, a memory that has left a lovely aftertaste of passion, determination, and brilliance. “I’ll never forget that moment in my life,” Iwuagwu Pat said.
History is only kind to those who devote everything to what they believe in. Commissioner DJ Wysei went on to establish one of the world’s most impressive profiles. She got international recognition after appearing on the BBC and being named one of the five most effective female DJs on CNN’s Inside Africa.
Her career received international notice, cementing her position as the greatest in the country. Commissioner DJ Wysei is recognized as the most entertaining DJ in the country, as well as the only professional female DJ.
In 2020, she was featured in Malimbe Africa’s in-flight magazine for “Arik Air, Aero, Dana Air, and Bristow”. Iwuagwu Patricia was also chosen by “Maggi Nigeria” to represent Nigerian DJs on “International Women’s Day” and was highlighted on BBC Igbo as one of the continent’s most skilled, unique, and creative DJs.
During the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown the same year, she was one of the female DJs who performed on the Soundcity Africa Virtual Concert titled “AMAZONINTHEMIX”. To round off the year, she was named the “Best Female DJ”.
A year later, Commissioner DJ Wysei trended on Twitter as one of the best DJs to appear on the popular reality TV show Big Brother Naija.
She hosts a weekly online entertainment show with a fanbase estimated to be up to 2 million on Facebook and Instagram, and an interaction capacity of more than 8 million people every week.
