Okechukwu Nnenna Emmanuel, better known by his stage name , is a fast-rising Nigerian indigenous rapper, singer, songwriter, recording artist, and stage performer who raps predominantly in Igbo.

He was born on November 27, 1978, in Awkuzu, Anambra State, located in the southeastern region of Nigeria. His hometown is Oyi. His style of music is often described as comedic rap.

Slowdog grew up in a household with eight members, including three boys and three girls. He spent the early part of his childhood with his family in Jos, Plateau State, in northern Nigeria, before relocating to Enugu State in 1981, where he completed his primary and secondary school education.

As a result, he obtained his First School Leaving Certificate and his West African Senior School Certificate.

Slowdog went on to attend the Institute of Management and Technology (IMT) in Enugu, Nigeria, where he earned a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Marketing in 2003.

At the age of 16, his passion for music grew stronger. While still in secondary school, he began rapping in Igbo. In 2002, he launched his professional music career by forming the group “Dodge & Slowdog (DSD)” and releasing their debut album, Xposed Piracy.

In March 2017, Slowdog released a remix of his hit track “Testimony,” featuring and TJ. He is now recognized as one of Nigeria’s top Igbo indigenous rappers.

Over the years, Slowdog has collaborated with several Nigerian music heavyweights, including Nigga Raw, Phyno, , Ibliss, MC Loph, , , Bracket, P-Square, Selebobo, Zero, Mode 9, Hype MC, and more.

His breakout track “Who Grab That Tin,” which featured Dekumzy and was released in 2006, helped him gain widespread recognition, especially in Nigeria’s southeastern region.

Slowdog is known for performing primarily in the southeastern region of Nigeria, especially during the end-of-year and festival seasons, almost as if it were a long-standing tradition.

In December 2014, he headlined the Mbba-Ike Mega Concert in Owerri, the capital of Imo State, alongside Patoranking and Ruffcoin. The event was an annual celebration organized by the state’s then-deputy governor.

In 2015, Slowdog also headlined the Ogbunike Cave Carnival in Anambra State. Later, on January 8, 2017, he took the stage with Mr. Raw Nwanne and actor John Okafor, better known as Mr. Ibu, to headline the 2017 edition of the Ibari Ogwa Concert in Owerri, Imo State.

Throughout his music career, Slowdog has received several award nominations, including Best Indigenous Rapper (Igbo) at the Nigerian Entertainment Awards, Next Rated at the Headies Awards,

Most Gifted Hip Hop Rapper at the African Music Video Awards, and Most Promising Act to Watch at the City People Entertainment Awards.

Slowdog is currently considered one of the richest and most influential artists in Nigeria, with an estimated net worth of $700,000.
